Australians and New Zealanders have quite a few symbols to represent ANZAC Day and are used to commemorate this time in history. The red poppy, which was one of the first flowers to bloom in the French and Belgian battlefields after World War I, is often correlated with Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Day is another day of military commemoration celebrated in Australia. Over time the Red Poppy has become an increasingly popular symbol of Anzac Day.

There are so many art and craft ideas that include the red poppy. The easiest ones for the classroom can be made from plastic or paper plates. We have made a RED POPPY TEMPLATE to print and decorate with red colouring-in pencils, crepe paper or water paints.

Have a look at some RED POPPY art and craft ideas to use in the classroom or at home.
