Hey Lizard Learning Tribe!
A special note from me to you regarding report card writing. It was never a favourite time of year for me so here are 4 tips to take on board that will see you sailing through this time effortlessly and enjoying the process a little more.
If this is you and you already are feeling overwhelmed, here are 4 tips to get you through these next few weeks of a report card term:
- Clarity in a plan: As the famous saying goes, ‘If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!’ Write a list of everything due starting at today until the last day of school. Create 3 columns – URGENT, NEXT WEEK, LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL. This will give you clarity and clarity allows you to break down your tasks into smaller chunks. Sometimes we ‘think’ we have a lot to do, when really we don’t once we have a picture of our to-do-list. Honestly, by doing this one simple step, you will feel a huge weight off your shoulders! I promise.
- Consolidate Information: Before you sit down to the computer or even open up your first report card to write, create a document (mine was Word) and consolidate your student’s marks, comments and other particulars into one easy to reach file. All the hard work is done and then it’s just a matter of ready, set, cut, paste and enter away.
- Don’t procrastinate: Do Step 1 NOW!! Let me know on Facebook or in the comments, what did you start on TODAY to give your workload clarity, and how did you break your tasks into organised, sizeable chunks?
- Never fear: Keep front of mind at all times ~ Everything always works out!! ALWAYS!! Don’t go busting a poofle-valve, worrying (totally useless emotion that one!) end up sick, stressed and worn-out when all you need to do is a little organisation ‘now’ to be well on your way to handing your reports in on time and in an organised fashion (without the chaos).
Won’t this feel so much better to be on top of it all by following a simple system this time? Before you know it, you’ll be having that second cuppa in the morning and enjoying the extra couple of hours of sleeping in.
